JUST ASK MILLS

Frequently Asked Questions.

Mills has been at the cutting edge of nutrient development for over twenty years. During that time, we’ve picked up a lot of valuable information – from best practices in growing methodology learned in the field to unexpected insights derived from our laboratory research. And much like our nutrients, we’ve distilled these down to their most concentrated form, so you get the best bang for your buck.

Growing FAQ

Because we are constantly testing our products for the best results, we keep improving our schedules. That’s why a growth chart from 2 years ago is different from our most current grow charts, which you can always find here on our website, including our high concentrate charts.

If you water your plants every day, we recommend feeding nutrients alternately:
feed-water-feed-water etc.

If you water your plants every 3 days, we recommend the following:
feed-feed-water-feed-feed-water etc.

Growing on soil: we recommend keeping your pH range between 6.0-6.5.

Growing on cocos: we recommend keeping your pH range between 5.5-6.0.

Our growth chart is based on tap water with an EC value of 0.7. If you are using osmosis water, the EC value is 0,0. You can bring the EC value to 0.6-0.7 by adding 1 ml A+B per liter of water.

The best and easiest way for a beginner to start growing is by starting on soil, because soil is much more forgiving than cocos when it comes to making mistakes with nutrition.

Temperature is the key to the amount of water you need to give your plants. HPS lamps give off more heat, which causes plants to use more water. LED lamps give off less heat, so the plants need less water.

A good rule of thumb is to determine the weight of the pots by lifting them. A heavy pot is full of water and a light pot is dry. Wilting leaves are also an indication of a plant in need of water.

Mills FAQ

Yes, you can order our test packages through the webshop and at offline stores that offer Mills products. You can also purchase our test packages at one of the many international conventions.

The development of Mills products dates back as little as 10 years. Many legacy brands have been around for much longer. However, our late entry to the market has given us the advantage of using the latest additional developments in micro and macro elements in the agricultural sector, specifically for our beloved crop.

Mills is continually testing for the best results, which is why our growth charts from 2 years ago is not the same as our most recent chart.

Product FAQ

Mills offers the following substrates Lightmix, Topmix and Soil & Cork.

For beginning growers we recommend Topmix and Lightmix, because they are soil-based and therefore are much more forgiving than cocos-based substrates.

A & B can’t be mixed together in high concentrations, because it causes a chemical reaction which can result in gypsum.

In the bloom phase, we recommend Basic A, Basic B, C4 ánd Mills Ultimate PK. When used together, the combined PK values are between 13/14.

Mills Vitalize is an extremely concentrated form of silicon. It is more than 1000 times more dissolvable than other forms of silicon. Vitalize makes for healthy plants with strong and shiny leaves. The cell division in the stem is strengthened, making the plants more resistant to all forms of stress, such as large temperature differences.

You can buy our products in packages of 100ml, 250ml, 500ml, 1 liter, 5 liters, 10 liters and 20 liters.

A batch of mixed nutrition has a shelf life of 24 to 48 hours.

If you plan on keeping the mixed nutrition longer than that, we recommend checking the pH-level before watering, because the pH-level rises when stored longer.

Start with bloom nutrition as soon as there is visible bloom, which you can recognize by the visible white hairs.

Mills products have a shelf life of at least 2 years under harsh conditions.

Under normal conditions (between 10 and 30 degrees Celsius) you can be sure that all of our products have a shelf life of at least 3 years
