The Great UK Hydro Store Survey results are in. For the eighth survey on the bounce, Mills Nutrients has been voted the UK’s Favourite Nutrient Brand. Big up the UK team. We can almost smell your blood, sweat, and tears.
What is The Great UK Hydro Store Survey?
Every two years, Garden Culture Magazine contacts around 120 hydroponic stores throughout the UK and speaks to the people in the know: the shop owners and staff behind the counters of the stores.
The bi-annual survey was conducted to analyse trends and product popularity. It asks about everything from nutrients and growing tents to lighting and techniques.
The Great UK Hydro Store Survey first took place in 2015. This year, over 100 stores were surveyed to determine what is selling best and what growers prefer when feeding their plants. This year’s survey has thrown up some compelling things. It estimates that since 2022, 100-120 Hydro stores have closed, and 40 have opened their doors for the first time. The UK hydro scene is forever changing, but Mills is sticking around, and growers are pleased.
Mills might come from the land of windmills, stroopwafels, and the OG home of hydro, but our fantastic UK distributors have been busy finding Mills a UK home. JAS Global and their team have smashed it for Mills over the last ten years, and being named the nation’s favourite nutrient brand again is one hell of a pat on the back.
When JAS Global launched Mills Nutrients in the UK, it entered a fiercely competitive space with over 56 different nutrient brands vying for attention in the UK hydroponics sector. Despite this challenging landscape, Mills Nutrients, with the help of JAS Global, was quickly established in stores throughout the UK. Whether it’s the artwork on shop walls, the sleek modern displays or the innovative Mills merch, there’s not a shop in the land in which you won’t see Mills Nutrients.
Who better to ask than the man responsible for getting Mills in the shops, Sales Director of JAS Global Ltd, Andy Stuart?
“Mills is a unique offering in the marketplace with a simple but effective strategy to minimise bottles in grow rooms to just five bottles and one additive. Our customers discovered that Mills only uses premium ingredients with no PGRs, which resonates with what growers want in today’s marketplace. Clean and simple-to-use product that can be used across all media types and in any system. It also helps that we get terrific support from our Dutch colleagues, who are always ready to support our marketing efforts.”
That’s not all! Mills in the UK overtook everyone, bar one, to become the second most-sold nutrient brand overall. And to add the cherry on top of a stellar two years for Mills UK, Vitalize, the fast-acting form of silicon, was the most-sold silica supplement for the fourth time in a row.
A massive thank you to our UK team. We literally couldn’t do this without you. Thanks to Garden Culture and The UK Great Hydro Store Survey for compiling this and bringing attention to the UK hydro scene. Mills is proud to see the team’s hard work paying off and pleasing UK growers. You can check out issue 59 of Garden Culture and see the entire survey.
